Have you ever noticed how some people are clingy and need constant validation or emotional connection with others they are closest to in their lives? That’s not to suggest that’s a bad thing, but on the flip side, maybe you personally don’t come across near as “needy.” Perhaps you’ve even accused yourself or been accused of being aloof, dismissive, and significantly less dependent on those connections. These differing attachment styles or ways we connect or attach to others come from what is called attachment theory. Attachment styles refer to how we each relate to others in relationships and what we need or don’t need in those situations. For example some [...]

The Best Present You Can Give This Christmas: Peace

2024-01-08T01:12:49+00:00Perspective|

In last week’s post, we talked about flexibility and adaptability. These are especially important during the holidays, when, believe it or not, we’re still faced with all the things going on in our world that keeps us busy. We’re moving too fast for our own good and unable to just enjoy the moment. With that said, there’s a difference between adaptability and peace. So, how do we then find peace when our world keeps moving at such a fast pace? World Peace vs. God's Peace-which is the Best Present   There is a difference between how the world perceives or defines peace and how God defines it. The way the [...]

Everyone can use some quiet time (mindful time)!

And yet, we tend to always focus on the negative. You do it. I do it. We all do it. But why? Many would say it’s because we have not created a culture of appreciation and gratitude in our life. Instead of focusing on all the bad things, we should be scanning our world for what is going good and make [...]

WHY DOUBT MAY KEEP YOU FROM HOPE IN YOUR LIFE

2024-01-08T01:16:54+00:00Hope, Perspective|

Most of us have heard a variation on this story about the monkey but let’s revisit it. Monkeys were stealing food from a village. So the natives devised gourds that would trap them. The gourds have a hole just large enough for the monkey’s hand to slip into. They then weight the gourd with sand and one piece of food. The trap is set. The monkey sticks his hand into the gourd in hope of getting the food — but with the prize in its grasp, the monkey cannot get its hand back out. The hole is too small for the monkey’s hand to pass through so long as it’s [...]
